balancing reflection with goal directed action

It is important to find a therapist with whom you feel you can speak openly, and whose approach to therapy resonates with you. We offer a free 15-minute conversation over the phone so you can decide if this is the right modality for you.

In the psychotherapy practice of Integrative Healing Arts, psychotherapy is based on balancing reflection with goal directed action. Many individuals have become dissatisfied with psychotherapy because they have engaged in endless reflection without action or they focus only on goals. In either case, people leave without direction or an understanding of their own patterns and narratives. Balancing action and reflection is at the heart of a healthy personality and is key to successful personal development.

The work is directed by methods of skill building, listening, reflection, goal setting and self-understanding. It is a process of working together to discover what is needed to address difficulties. We approach counseling by being with clients through their difficulties, tending sensitively and effectively to what emerges during sessions. In this way, therapy is a process of support, exploration and action.
