Acupuncture and moxibustion

In the acupuncture practice of integrative Healing Arts, diagnosis and treatment occur simultaneously. We evaluate the chief complaint, adjacent areas and affected channels, as well as palpate principle diagnostic zones of the neck, abdomen and back.

Effective treatment requires forming a plan that results in an immediate release of the tension or pain found at the diagnostically significant areas. The result is a profound shift towards homeostasis, followed by a reduction or elimination of complex chronic pain, disease and dysfunction.

In the psychotherapy practice of Integrative Healing Arts, psychotherapy is based on balancing careful attunement and attention to clients as well as facilitating empowerment and change.  The work is directed by an ongoing practice of cultivating awareness and discovering possibilities.

Psychotherapy is a process of working together to discover what is needed to address difficulties. We approach counseling by walking with clients through their difficulties, tending sensitively and effectively to what emerges during sessions. In this way therapy is a process of support, exploration and action.

It is important to find a therapist with whom you feel you can speak openly, and whose approach to therapy resonates with your own way of being. We offer a free 15-minute conversation over the phone so you can decide if this is the right modality of psychotherapy.

Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork based on the theoretical framework of traditional Chinese medicine. Shiatsu technique includes hand and palm pressure techniques; assisted stretching; joint manipulation and mobilization.

Relief from, or the elimination of pain and symptoms may be immediate or occur in the days following the session, or over the course of a few treatments. Wear loose fitting clothing and socks during the session. Shiatsu is performed clothed. Tight fitting garments, which restrict your range of motion may limit the effectiveness of certain aspects of treatment.
